One-to-one video

As we watched the One to One video i saw a lot of similarities to what North Slope Borough School District(NSBSD) has to offer. Which is the district Point Hope Tikigaq School is in. So i have seen first hand from my brother and sister in-law the oppurtunities that would be provided in having a one-to-one program started. Point Hope has had this program about 3 years now. I believe having this program can be a benefit for both students and teachers. By allowing students to learn how to use a computer before they go on to college and go on to work. As a teacher i don't believe i will rely heavily on computers. Because i don't believe computers should be a main source of education. I would use this program as needed. When we may need to research information that may not be available in Point Hope. I agreed with the ladies on the video as they said that it would help with the textbooks because the textbooks a school may have might not be updated or it is hard to get new textbooks all the time. So this can be beneficial for teachers not only teachers but the entire school.

There may also be some drawbacks, such as the fact that there may be some parents that don't know how to use computers so they may not be able to help students with homework when they may need help. A teacher has to prepare for this program in their lesson plans. So they need to know whether or not the school has this program before planning their lesson plans.

From watching this video i believe going with a program such as this, may allow students to gain knowledge of computers which can be a great skill to have when seeking employment and also going to college. Having this program can be a benefit.

Claudia,

I agree with your blog totally. I think we need more teachers like you that are open to new changes to better the education that our students are receiving. The movie opened my eyes to technology in the classroom and how well it can be for our students. I enjoyed reading your blog. -Janet
